Course Description
It is clear that endocrine and hormone-dependent tumors require the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team of endocrinologists, surgeons, pediatricians, oncologists, cytologists, pathologists, oncologists, and radiologists. Diagnosis is often delayed, as patients remain asymptomatic for a long time.
The need for training of young doctors is becoming clear, with the aim of specialized knowledge to contribute to the timely recognition, diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
This elective course will be held in English language and thus will give the possibility of attendance not only to students of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, but also to students from the collaborating foreign Universities ERASMUS / CIVIS program. Although the course will be organized and will take place with physical presence, special care will be given to foreing students with difficulties in attendance with physical presence.
In addition to lecture attendance, students will also have the oportunity to participate to outpatient clinics and surgical procedures in the field of Endocrine and Endocrine Related Oncology.
Our aim is for the students to become familiar with clinical diagnosis, investigations and work -up of patients in order to establish the diagnosis. In addition, we aim to familiarize students with rare diseases in the field, in order to cultivate clinical suspicion and to be able to establish timely diagosis of these patients as well. Finally, students will be trained in skill development necessary for interdisciplinary collaboration and decision-making.
