Tour on the Acropolis south slope and the Agora - Saturday 10/01

Dear all,

Happy new year! I hope that you had a great winter break.

I sent you in a separate announcement the Zoom link for the last class of our course, which will be held tomorrow at 12.00.

Also, as discussed, we shall conclude our course with a visit to the south slope of the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora on Saturday 10 January 2026, at 11.40. We will inspect the Hellenistic monuments of both sites (and some of the Romans, if you insist).

Since there is a specific time appointment for our entrance to the archaeological sites, to which we must abide, we shall meet at 11.40 outside the Acropolis metro station (line 2). Please do not be late - at 11.45 I will begin for the entrace of the archaeological site of the Acropolis south slope.

I will bring your tickets with me. You can have with you an identification document (academic ID, passport etc) just in case. According to the forecast, the weather conditions are going to be good, so we will be able to enjoy the monuments under the sun.

If anything urgent takes place, you already have my phone number (written messages only).

Change of tour's date - 10 January 2026

Dear all,

I was informed that the students who come from countries outside EU cannot visit the Agora for free. Therefore, the tour of this Saturday is cancelled.

To solve this matter and after communication with the BAAGgrammateus, we arranged for a visit on Saturday 10 January 2026. The secretary will take care so that all of you can visit the archaeological site without charge. It would also be a nice opportunity to conclude our class in this way, so I hope that all of you will be available.

Lastly, the makeup lesson will take place on Wednesday 17/12, 9.00 at 826.

See you on Tuesday at our normal class!

Dear all,

Please pay attention to the various announcements to follow:

1) The file including the topics of the second assignment is available on the ''Documents'' section. Please read it carefully and send me via e-mail your preference by 23/12. The deadline for its submission is Friday 19 January since after this date the exam period begins.

2) Our next meeting will take place normally next Tuesday 2/12 and the replacement of the lost lecture will take place next Friday 5/12, 12.00-15.00 at room 820.

The forthcoming lecture of 18/11 is unfortunately cancelled due to illness.

We shall meet again at Tuesday 25/11 at the University, and we will replace the lost lecture on Friday 28/11 if you agree. Our tour at the Agora shall take place in December.

Hello everybody!

The topics and the rest of the information necessary of the first assignment are available on the ''Documents'' folder. You can select whichever topic you prefer and let me know via e-mail.

Practical instructions on the writing of your essays will be provided in the following week (e.g. footnotes, citations etc.).

Also, since only 8 students are registered so far, please remind your classmates the need to register on the eclass.
