Welcome to Introduction to Marketing!
Dear students,
Welcome to Introduction to Marketing! I am thrilled to have you here for this journey into the dynamic and ever-evolving world of marketing.
Whether you realize it or not, marketing shapes the world around us. In this course, we will go beyond just selling products; we will explore the fundamental philosophy of marketing and its critical role in modern society and the economy. We will dive into how businesses understand consumer behavior, analyze market environments, and develop effective strategies in both traditional and digital landscapes.
What to expect from our classes?
This will not be a typical, theory-only course. Our time together will be highly participatory and practical. We will combine our theoretical foundations with:
- Real-World Case Studies: We will analyze actual business scenarios from the Greek and international markets.
- Hands-on Experience: I will be bringing in real-life examples from my own professional journey, my business, MATTIA, so we can bridge the gap between theory and actual practice.
- Interactive Learning: Get ready for interactive discussions, group projects, and even a bit of gamification and role-playing!
Course Materials & Platform Use:
Here on our e-Class platform, you will find all the educational materials for the course organized in one place. Specifically, you will have access to:
- Lecture Presentations (Slides): The visual materials we cover in class.
- Weekly Study Guides (Notes): Comprehensive summaries of our discussions to aid your study process.
- Self-Assessment Questions: Practice questions to help you test your understanding of key concepts.
- Project Guidelines: Detailed instructions for your assignments and term project.
- Supplementary Readings: Interesting articles and case studies to deepen your knowledge.
I highly encourage you to check the announcements regularly. As a first step, please take a few minutes to read through the Course Guide located in the "Documents" section, and check the "Assignments" folder for an overview of your project.
Communication & Office Hours:
I am here to support you throughout the semester. If you have any questions or need further guidance on the course material and projects, feel free to reach out via the e-Class messaging system. Additionally, meetings can be scheduled by appointment (either online or in-person) to discuss your progress.
Let’s make this a creative, engaging, and highly productive semester.
Best regards,
Maria (Mariza) Attia Professor, Introduction to Marketing
