Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

Discourse Analysis is a broad and interdisciplinary field. The aim of the course is to familiarise students with the basics of the multifaceted field of discourse analysis, i.e. the study of language as it is used in daily interactions. Aspects to be considered include principles governing the production and interpretation of both spoken and written language, and contextual features such as participants and setting. Then sentence internal organisation in terms of both theme and rheme and given and new information as well as cohesion and coherence of texts are investigated. The last issue explored is that of the organisation of interaction within the framework of conversation analysis.

 

Students are encouraged to collect and analyse their own data.
