Περιγραφή Μαθήματος
Applied Linguistics to Foreign Language Teaching and Learning is a compulsory course in our undergraduate programme and an essential component of the Faculty's Pedagogic and Teaching Competence Programme (PPDE). The course aims to equip students with the awareness, knowledge and skills essential for teaching and learning languages, with a particular focus on teaching English as a foreign language in Greece. The course explores the dynamic interplay between theory and practice, enabling students to grasp the rationale behind mainstream and alternative foreign language pedagogies. It presents key theories of language and language learning, examining how these have shaped various teaching approaches and methods. A central goal is to cultivate critical awareness among students regarding the pedagogical, political, and social objectives these methodologies serve.
