(ENL465) -  Kosmas Vlachos

Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

In the 6th semester, this course is designed to cultivate the skills and knowledge necessary for crafting effective teaching activities, lesson plans, and educational scenarios, with the ultimate goal of nurturing proficient English as a Foreign Language (EFL) educators. Emphasizing various teaching methodologies, including project-based learning, task-based learning, and modern approaches like Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), students delve into the intricacies of instructional design.

Participants engage in hands-on exercises centered around crafting lesson plans and educational scenarios aligned with diverse teaching frameworks. They also design tasks and activities tailored to their future classroom environments. This course serves as a preparatory step for subsequent practical experiences, including the 'TEFL Practicum' in the 7th semester and 'Teaching Practice in schools' in the 8th semester, where students undertake real-world teaching in classroom settings.

Throughout the course, students attend lectures, actively participate in activities, and apply theoretical principles to practical contexts. Supplementing their learning, they explore various resources, including book chapters, academic papers accessible via the e-class platform, and collaborate on designing and presenting activities and projects.

Given the course's hands-on approach, attendance and active participation are imperative. Students opting for this course should recognize the necessity of being present and engaged, as completion of in-class tasks is expected.
