This course aims to introduce you to basic concepts and methods for the study of culture through both theoretical overviews and concrete critical exempla from Anglophone cultures. What will be hopefully understood is the immense complexity of the field and the methodological problems it creates, but also its limitless and very exciting potential in exploring our world through a variety of disciplines joined by a common purpose. Emphasis will be laid on current issues in the studies of culture, without however neglecting the long historical development of said issues. Though the texts concern mostly the western culture, the key concepts and methodologies can well be applied to the study of other cultures as well.
