Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

This course explores Britain’s prose production of the 20th and 21st centuries focusing on well-known literary texts that represent Britain’s pluralistic and multicultural postwar society. Students will close-read novels and short stories from a theoretical and socio-historical perspective, while examining the recurring and changing themes and narrative patterns of the postwar era. Emphasis will be given on prevalent issues explored in British fiction of the latter part of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries, such as existential and metaphysical concerns, social alienation and loneliness, sexual and cultural identities, the war on terror, and the effect of technology on the postmodern subject.
