This course investigates British, American and/or other anglophone theatrical texts of the twentieth mostly, or even the current century. It delves into the cultural, literary and historical circumstances that helped create specific works of drama, discussing also the structural elements of theatrical discourse as well as the philosophical implications behind the creation of the works under study. Special attention will be paid to the extent to which the works at hand can be classified under particular theoretical and literary schools or trends.
