The aim of this module is the development of analytical thinking, critical skills and fluency in dealing with issues related to the recording and analysising the form of dance in order to realize that dance is a culturally constructed system of movement. More specifically, as one of the bedrocks of the dance study and research is movement recording and analysis, students are trained to notate dance and to identify the building blocks of dance, its structure, its recurrent features, its semantic dimensions, and to provide the cognitive frame for more accurate observation of danced and other movement in the field.
