Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

(gr.) Στο μάθημα επιχειρείται η κριτική ανασύνθεση της εξέλιξης της νεότερης ευρωπαϊκής φιλοσοφίας από την πρώιμη φάση της έως και τα μέσα του 19^ου αιώνα, με εστίαση στη θεωρητική και την πρακτική φιλοσοφία, εκλαμβανόμενες τόσο ως προς την αυτονομία, όσο και ως προς την ενότητά τους. Αρχικά σκιαγραφείται το κλίμα κυριαρχίας αλλά και αμφισβήτησης του μεταφυσικού δογματισμού και της θεολογικής αυθεντίας των απαρχών της περιόδου, προκειμένου στη συνέχεια να παρουσιαστεί συγκεκριμένα η πρωτοποριακή και παρ’ όλα ταύτα συμβιβαστική φιλοσοφία του Ντεκάρτ. Τα επόμενα βήματα στρέφονται στην εξήγηση των διαδοχικών μεταβάσεων – μέσω της κριτικής και του ορθολογικού διαλόγου και υπό την επίδραση υπερκείμενων κοινωνικο-πολιτικών συνθηκών – στις φιλοσοφίες που χαρακτήρισαν την περαιτέρω εξέλιξη και δη σε εκείνες των Σπινόζα, Πασκάλ, Λάιμπνιτς, Μπέικον, Χομπς, Λοκ, Μπέρκλεϊ, Χιουμ, Βολταίρου, Ρουσσώ, Καντ, Φίχτε, Σέλλινγκ, Χέγκελ, Σοπενχάουερ, Φόιερμπαχ και Μαρξ.

Η ολοκλήρωση του μαθήματος θα ισοδυναμεί με την επίτευξη μιας ουσιαστικής εξοικείωσης των φοιτητών με τις βασικές ιδέες και τα προβλήματα που ανέδειξε η εν λόγω σημαντική περίοδος της ιστορίας της φιλοσοφίας, ενώ ιδιαίτερη έμφαση θα δοθεί στη σύνδεση μεταξύ φιλοσοφικών και λογοτεχνικών-καλλιτεχνικών ρευμάτων.

In this course a critical reconstruction of the development of modern European philosophy from its early phase to the middle of the 19th century is undertaken. The focus is on both theoretical and practical philosophy, taking into account their independence as well as their unity. At first the intellectual climate at the beginning of the whole era is outlined, as it was determined by the predominance and the contestation of metaphysical dogmatism and theological authority. Then the aim is to explain and present the successive transitions that took place through criticism and rational discourse as well as under the influence of the determining socio-political conditions and led to the formation of those philosophies that shaped the further development, i.e. the philosophies of Descartes, Spinoza, Pascal, Leibniz, Hobbes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Voltaire, Rousseau, Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Schopenhauer, Feuerbach and Marx.

The students are expected to write an essay on a topic agreed with the lecturer. Fulfilling the obligations of the course is tantamount to achieving the goal of becoming familiar with the main ideas and problems that stood at the foreground in this period of the history of philosophy.

The course is offered in German and English. For the active participation and the required essays both languages are acceptable.

(dt.) Rekonstruktion der Entwicklung der neueren europäischen Philosophie von ihrer Frühphase an bis in die Mitte des 19.en Jahrhunderts, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der theoretischen und der praktischen Philosophie, sowohl im Hinblick auf die Selbstständigkeit wie auch auf die Einheit beider Bereiche.

Zunächst wird das geistige Klima der Vorherrschaft aber auch der Unterminierung des metaphysischen Dogmatismus und der kirchlichen Autorität skizziert, damit es anschließend zu einer detaillierten Darstellung der bahnbrechenden wie auch kompromisshaften Philosophie von Descartes kommen kann. Die nächsten Schritte sind gerichtet auf die Erklärung des Übergangs – durch Kritik und rationalen Diskurs sowie unter dem Einfluss von übergeordneten gesellschafts-politischen Bedingungen – zu den später bzw. sukzessiv aufgetretenen Philosophien von Spinoza, Pascal, Leibniz, Hobbes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Voltaire, Rousseau, Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Schopenhauer und Feuerbach.
