Ancient Science and Philosophy (ST 24)

The general aim of this module is twofold: To provide an overview of the development of some of the most influential ancient Greek scientific ideas, by examining the diverse ways in which philosophy and science shaped one another across different historical, cultural, and institutional contexts; To develop students’ understanding of how the history of these interactions has been studied over the past century. From this perspective, students will engage with a range of key historiographical texts and learn to evaluate primary and secondary sources within their own historical contexts.
